Select the Oval Tool. Draw a circle the same size as you want your gem. No stroke.
Select the Paint bucket tool. Choose the red to black radial gradient.
Fill the circle with the gradient. Make sure to fill just above the bottom right.
Create a new layer. Select the Oval Tool. Select light red for the fill color,
and no stroke. Create a small circle on the top left of the gem, this will be the highlight.
Next we will create a glow effect. Create another layer and drag it below all other layers.
Make a circle with the oval tool (same color as your gem). Now select this circle and go
to Modify>Shape>Soften Fill Edges. Distance: 15 px, Steps: 10, Direction: Inset. Click OK.
Drag the shadow behind the gem.
